Their song Creep came popular throughout the world. It rose to #2 on the Billboard modern rock charts. When it was re-released in the UK, it rose to #7. Suddenly, Radiohead was a huge success. And they hit the road on their first tour.

The tour extended to two years—and by the end of it, the band members nearly broke up because of the pressures of their sudden success, and the constant touring and playing the same songs for two years. The band described the tour as a miserable experience.

When the tour finally ended, Radiohead began working on their 2nd album. They were stressed and felt smothered by Creep’s success, and by the huge expectations on their shoulders to produce another hit.
